Annual gathering

A few months ago one member of the forum suggested that we have an annual gathering and that sounded like a very good idea! We chat on a daily basis on the forum, but most of us don’t know each other and this would be a very good occasion to get to know each other, share experiences and in a relaxed environment.

After several messages, we decided that it will be in Århus.

To follow up on this event, check out the post at: planning our annual gathering .

Aab in the finals...

Aab in the finals...

Aab is in the finals again. Nothing new to that. They have been several times over the last decade, and I have watched them in Parken several times, with Aab as the loosing team. I don’t have a great feeling about it this time either. Because of Champions League games, UEFA Cup, Trophy Cup in Denmark and games in Superligaen, the players are worn out. It has lead to bad results in superligaen lately, and I find that acceptable. After all, it has been an amazing last few years with Aab in Europe and the danish championship. In my 18 year membership with Aab, the 2 last years has been above all.

But back to the finals. Of course I will be to find in Parken again. I went to get my tickets monday. They had to be picked up physically in Aalborg, so I had to drive the approx. 200 km. up there and 200 km. back to get them. While I was waiting up there with around 250 others for the store to open at 10, I got interviewed by TV2. I think they expected me to come out and say “Of course we will win”. I didn’t although sounded optimistic. Considering damaged players and how they have been playing lately, it will be a really tough match. But of course I believe in them. As a soccer fan you are kind of naive sometimes. Even if they made the lousiest crap the game before, you think they will play their best game ever next time. But I’m just trying to make myself ready, if it will become another lost final. The disappointment will be less if they loose, and so much greater if they win. And this time we DESERVE that trophy to be in Aalborg.

When every penny counts…

In Denmark, once a person gets a job – any job really, life starts falling into place.  The problem really is, to GET that job, but that is a conversation for another day :-)

I thought I would share a tip with those of you who enjoy photography (and are not professional photographers),  and can make some money with it. Do you ever wonder where blogs, small publications and magazines (online and off) and small businesses buy their pictures from? They most often than not, buy from a stock photo website. These websites work like an agency: they connect photographers who want to sell their photos with people who want to buy them. There are many levels ($) of stock photography websites and the main difference between them are the quality and exclusivity of the pictures. It makes sense that if you are able to get a perfect shot of Madonna, that you are in the high end of this business.

How does it work? They change slightly, but basically it works like this:

  1. Open an account
  2. Sign up as a photographer
  3. Upload images
  4. Wait for the approval of your images
  5. Add titles and descriptions for the images
  6. Get a commission for each picture that is downloaded

You can sell all sorts of photos: feet, beach, flag, people, animals, children, garden – ANYTHING really.

Here is my list of stock photography agencies:fid_blog_1

Well, you won’t get rich by selling photos to these places, but if you are good and devote a few hours every day to taking and uploading photos, it could become a part-time income with time – because as your portfolio grows, more of your images gets downloaded and each image can be downloaded by several users.

If you are a professional photographer, you can make a lot more money by selling to agencies from A Photo Editor’s list
